Ringworm’s Symptoms
A fungal skin infection is called Ringworm. It always can appear anywhere on the body, including hands, feet, scalp and groin. While this condition is most prevalent among children, the fungus can affect people of all ages.
The National Library of Medicine says ringworm usually appears as raised, red, scaly patches. They may blister or secrete fluid, may be itchy, and are usually surrounded by a brighter red edge that looks like a ring. If the fungus spreads to the hair, it may yield bald patches. Fungus on the nails may cause them to become thick and discolored, and to disintegrate.
Ringworm spreads in area which is damp and warm. Highly contagious, it can be passed from person to person through direct skin contact or by sharing items like combs, clothing, public showers, or pool surfaces. Cats, with other pets, may also pass fungus to people.
